Peru Part 3
After escaping the flood, we went up in the mountains to the highest lake on the planet, Lake TitiKaka or Titicaca depending on which language you use in that area. The lake is around 12,500 feet above sea level and is the 11th larges lake in the world. There are several different communities at the lake that have been there for over 1,000 years. Besides Spanish other languages such as Aymara and Quechua are spoken by the natives. One community moved off the mainland and


The FLOOD
We got a knock on our door at 6:30 am from the hotel staff saying we needed to leave ASAP due to one of the small rivers flooding into the main river. At some point earlier that morning the street in front of the hotel had flooded and we needed to go to higher ground in case it kept raining and flooded again. Peru Part 2
So after Cusco we went to the Sacred Valley where it is like a spiritual retreat. The first stop was kind of like a retirement area and the second was kinda of a multipurpose area. The Incas did not finish this area before the Spanish arrived. We then made it to Aguascalientes, which is the town at the base of Machu Picchu. This was the past two days. So this is actually the 7th day of our trip, but the internet has been very spotty the first two days and basically no internet in the jungle. We are now in Cusco which is a mountain town that is around 10,000 feet in elevation. I think I am just going to share some photos and keep this pretty short and sweet.
